ABOUT US

Public access television and community media have a history in San Francisco dating back to the 1970s. For three decades, public access has been a dynamic and diverse meeting ground for all San Franciscans, especially those populations that are under served by mainstream media outlets.

In 2006, Access SF continues that tradition with a commitment to making the tools of media and television available to the broadest possible number of citizens and nonprofits. Any San Francisco resident or community organization is welcome to air a show on Cable Channel 29. We do not edit, preview, or take any editorial control over the content of a show. We support the notion that public access as a free speech platform for the community-at-large, and when we are most effective, our channel presence serves as the City's signature "electronic greenspace."

At our facility located at 1720 Market Street, producers from all walks of life can receive valuable training in television that allows you to use our equipment and facilities to realize local programming. Or, you can produce your show independently and submit completed programming for playback.

Public access television is your opportunity to create your vision and get your voice heard. Remember, local TV is in your hands and community media is your resource. Contact us to learn more about how you can get involved with one of the City's leading, accessible and affordable pathways into media and television.
